YEI's unique model that holds weekly after-school, in-school and summer programming in which students are educated about a variety of disciplines in the art industry. Students not only learn about the profession, they actually work cooperatively to produce, professional-quality business products in each area.Our students tap into their creative passions, explore a variety of opportunities in the arts, humanities and media, and connect with the thriving art scene in Washinton D.C. . Using photography, digital film, sewing and material arts, drawing, painting, sculpture and screenprinting, youth learn how to manage YEI in house Tshirt printing company and Youth Magazine .
Students learn technical design capabilities in the field of graphic design. Student manipulate photos like the one above, create logos, and prepare artwork. This includes becoming proficient in design software, i.e. Adobe Design Suite, on industry standard equipment such as MAC computers.
Every student involved to become a better communicator by learning how to blend several types of methods in a concise message. This blend is a mix of traditional media (writing and reporting) and new media (digital photography, audio and video).
The goal of the Screenprinting Team is to learn technical standard techniques and ethical business practices of the garment industry. Their training covers 14 primary subjects in the art, craft, technique, and business of clothing.

Students not only learn about different STEM profession, they actually work cooperatively to produce, professional-quality business products in each area .Our students explore a variety of opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, and math through in this Makerspace environment. Using 3d printers, labs, laser cutters and our commercial kitchen , youth learn how to manage YEI in house Cosmetics Line, Community Garden and Bakery .
Students learn technical skills related to the art of food. Youthobtain food handlers license, learn how to make/sell healthy meals around the National Mall area, and core business skills with Artdrenaline Cafe.
Aspiring young chemist learn how to create and sell various cosmetic products including natural lotions, perfume, soaps, and makeup products that are sold online and at community markets.
The goal of the community garden is to grow a hub of vegetables, fruits, and herbs for use in cosmetic products and food program. Fruits harvested are also used to make smoothies and baked goods that are distributed at our mobile "Juice Joints".
